Part 1. Main descriptions

The unit uses a low-pressure cycle to produce pure oxygen and nitrogen from air by cryogenic rectification. The feed air is first liquefied by the refrigerant produced by the turbo expander, and then undergoes two rectifications according to the difference in boiling points of liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen. As a result, oxygen with a purity of more than 99.6% and nitrogen with a purity of more than 99.99% can be obtained from the equipment. The plant can also partially produce liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen through operational modifications, if required.

The basis principle of air separation is to use the different boiling points of the components of liquefied air to separate them. To this end, the air separation plant consists of the following process:
